We use Saxon Math at Beacon Hill. There is no perfect math program, but Saxon Math is the closest we’ve found. It uses a systematic and incremental approach. Every day students have a new lesson and practice a number of exercises to learn the new lesson. Most of the problems, however, systematically review previous lessons. On top of this, students do a time test for addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division every day. There is no question that they will have mastered the fundamentals of arithmetic by the end of grammar school.
