MEMORY WORK
Grammar school is a great time to memorize. Students enjoy memorizing, they are generally satisfied with “facts” instead of further questions of analysis, and they learn public speaking at the same time. Each year we publish our memory manual, which has the every week’s memory work.
Each week students learn a science fact, a proverb, two history events, two Bible passages, and four Latin vocabulary words.
In addition, students memorize a poem, a scripture song, and a hymn every six weeks.
CHOIR
Every student at Beacon Hill learns to read music and sing in a choir. We focus on sacred music. Students sing for friends and family twice a year, at Christmas and on the last day of the year.
FITNESS
In the lower grammar grades, students spend time each week exercising and playing active games. Beginning in fourth grade, students begin to learn the fundamentals of fitness. Students learn and practice various Olympic lifts, gymnastic moves, pull ups, sit ups, push ups, burpees, sprints, and wall ball exercises. After their workout, students play various soccer and basketball games. All students regularly practice activities that are a part of the Presidential Fitness Program.
